Single Malts - and other odd Musings

Visiting the Temple of the God of Mercy on a Rainy Day - Chinese Poet Su Shi, about 1000 years ago

Silkworm grow old
Wheat half yellow
Around mountain rain unrestrained
Farmer person stop plough
Women discard basket
White clothes immortals on high hall
Zhao and Taizu talk war

The silkworms grow old,
The wheat half yellow,
The rain falls unrestrained about the mountain.
The farmers cannot work the land,
Nor women gather mulberry,
The Immortals sit high in white robes in the hall.
Donald and Kim talk war

To an unknown ancestor, maybe

To an unknown ancestor, maybe

They do come dropping down to me
On thin treads of eternity
My songs,
And all that unto them belongs;

And who wrote first, that these words come
(Or they come not, and I am dumb,
But start
At some wild star that lights the heart).

I know not, but as dawn unlocks
The night’s old shadowy music box
I seize
A pen as struck by destinies

Far beyond anything I know
Born out of sight ages ago
By some
Chanceling from whose blood I come;

And how did the first rapture light
Upon that maker in his night?
Did he
Know my exact felicity?

What thou did’st then, old miscreant, thou
Hast much to claim or disavow
Alack!
I bear thy soul upon my back

Ray, Mike, and Virginia - a little nice music in the town park today

the two men -Ray and Mike - playing and singing were a welcome bit of entertainment at the North East Town Park today and graciously gave me permission to photograph their easy listening playing - in these photos, Ray, on the left, was doing a solo voice very pleasant to the ear

Lovely Shrub

- this lovely shrub planted along the parking area helped to ease my tight-wad pain as I paid my yearly property tax (ease - not erase)

The Writing Spider

"The Writing Spider (Argiope aurantia) is a spider of many names.  Known as the Yellow and Black Garden Spider, Golden Orb Weaver, Yellow Argiope, Corn Spider, Scribbler Spider, Golden Garden Spider, and Black and Yellow Argiope, just to name a few."

this quote is from the following website which contains a well written bit of information on this fall spider:

Stump and Mushroom - II

Polyporaceae - but not sure which - but guessing 'Beefsteak' (Fistulina hepatica) - if you think you know click on comment below and update me or if I have time to confirm its identity I will update photo

Another 'Falling' Leaf - hanging from spider silk

if you look closely at the stem end of the 'falling' leaf above the sticky spider silk holding it aloft is quite apparent
so no I wasn't incredibly quick catching a falling leaf in focused detail - just taking advantage of these random happenstances that occur from time to time in my wood

Black Walnut Tree - with the large fruit which contains the incredibly tough Black Walnut within

I have probably mentioned this before but this tree/s fruit - the black walnut - is my favorite flavour for nuts, and every year I have a Black Walnut Birthday Cake - and that day is just a month away
