weather has been cold and wet - really wet, rain, rain, rain - but beats snow - and the wet cold is that penetrate to the bone kind of feel, which to me seems to be less shivery when its been below freezing for a week or so and the humidity drys away
Quarter Million Mark
well it's been a few years but I've passed the quarter million mark for hits on this low-key, G-rated, blog which gives me a nice feeling - thanks to every one of you, NorvellHimself!!
(yeah, I know that some You Tube posts get that many in an hour or so, but this still feels nice to me)
Hawk - II
a rough guess (can't see the wings and back shoulders) is that this is a Red-shouldered Hawk, Buteo lineatus
- And Up
I think this is a new record for having the tree up before Christmas eve - the last few years I have been actually decorating a couple of nights before - and we (Calum and I) are probably going to start a few decorations tonight - a whole five days before Christmas, WOW!!
Over Colora Way - II
Even though we are early by our standards, it seemed that a lot of tree lots were closed this close to Christmas - the old ways are giving way to the high speed put your tree up after Thanksgiving and take it down the day after Christmas Day - so we decided not to look farther at other tree farms for a Fir and stuck by the ubiquitous White Pine - Calum cut nicely perpendicular and at the perfect height above the ground so that with barely a whisker of room (I'd say 1/8th inch) the tree fit perfectly into the stand with no fiddling around - the stand by the way I bought in Cramer's old 5 and 10 store in North East back in 1957 - $10 and still going strong
