What's It All About, eh?

Cape Breton evokes deep memories and strong emotions for me as well as a deep appreciation for the beauty of my adopted island. My hopes are that you too might find the photos evocative - maybe a view you've not enjoyed before, or an 'Oh I've been there', or if from away that you may be encouraged to visit this fair isle so that you might come to love and breathe Cape Breton as I do. One word about place names that I use - some are completely local usage while others are from maps of Cape Breton that I've purchased over the years. I frequently post travel and other photos that are of interest to me - and hopefully you.

On the right hand side bar find my take on Single Malt whiskey - from how to best enjoy this noble drink to reviews (in a most non-professional manner) of ones that I have tried and liked - or not. Also musings, mine and others, on life in general.

Photographs are roughly 98%+ my own and copy-righted. For the occasional photo that is borrowed, credit is given where possible - recently I have started posting unusual net photographs that seem unique. Feel free to borrow any of my photos for non-commercial use, otherwise contact me. Starting late in 2013 I have tried to be consistent in identifying my photographs using ©smck on all out of camera photos I personally captured - (I often do minor computer changes such as 'crop' or 'shadow' etc but usually nothing major), and using
©norvellhimself on all photos that I have played around with in case it might not be obvious. Lately I have dropped the ©smck and have watermarked them with the blog name.

COMMENTS are appreciated as feedback is the driving energy of blogging - And if you like this site please pass it along to a friend. Thanks!

Lower Run Off -

Back Yard Geese - kinda like them there, but as most people know, geese can fertilize a large area of land in a day or so of wandering around, which makes walking around for humans kind of messy

Is She Hurt?

looked out the pantry window last Thursday, and there in the back yard were a pair of Canadian geese, with the one lying forward on its chest with neck bobbed forward as if straining to be held off the ground, and maintaining that pose for some minutes

I wondered if she (actually can't tell if it is she or he, but my mind read her as a she) was hurt, or simply doing 'Down Goose' yoga - at any rate they hung around for an hour or so then walked toward the pond.  Later I journeyed down the back to see if indeed they were looking to settle into the pond and surrounding area or not - didn't see them anywhere so wandered the wood and came back into the house and had a cuppa' tea

the next post will be a few photographs taken along with the above

URL change results for today

Well, whether my attempt to increase 'hits' was the cause or not, the number increased multiples of times more today than for a while - and I have left the old address on the whole day.  Tomorrow morning, 21 March 2020, I plan to then go back to my changed address [capebreton-norvellhimself-singlemalt@blogspot.com] in order to post onto Facebook.  If you are using the old address (URL) that begins with 'norvellhimself' today, please remember to switch.

I will post an update about this time tomorrow to see if today's figures were flukes or really a result of my fiddling around today.

THANKS

This is
an attempt to steer long time visitors of my blog under its old name of some years:

singlemalt-capebreton-norvellhimself@blogspot.com

to the same blog under its new name for some number of months now:
capebreton-norvellhimself-singlemalt@blogspot.com

Some while ago Google did away with their Google + network, which same had steered many visitors to my blog.  And as a result about half my readership disappeared leaving me able only to attract visitors with Facebook, and Twitter notices of my new postings.  Then more recently some person for reasons to me unknown, reported to Facebook that my blog was posting inappropriate material .  Immediately Facebook denied my posts and have never responded to my entreaties to check it out for themselves.
I then changed the original name to a similar name - as shown above - but have never had the readership return of those earlier years.  So today I am running this one post under the old name in hopes of catching the eye of some of the old followers that might still hope to find my blog again -  AND IF YOU DO SEE THIS then please just do the simple change of 'singlemalt' from the beginning to the end of the original title.

Thank you, NorvellHimself
