Sitting at the kitchen table reading I heard a
thump on the window by my shoulder and knew immediately that some bird flitting rapidly from the outside feeder had flown head first into the large glass of the window. Looking out I saw this little guy laying not quite motionless on my dog's outside bed. In better weather I usually leave them to recover their senses on their own - but in cold weather they can sometimes succumb to loss of body heat before their brain clears, so I went out and carefully gathered him up and kept him inside for about five minutes. As you can see from the photos he is still spraddle-legged but recovering. A short time after these photos I carried him back out placing him on one of the deck chairs from which he quickly flew away. All's well that ....
