Amanita - grown huge and bites around the edges - I know turtles can eat mushrooms poisonous to humans and not be bothered, but have no idea what ate these bites around the edges

A Friend In Need - is a friend indeed

had a doctors appointment yesterday at noon and met a new cardiologist who was just delightful and caring then drove home in some heavy rain and spent the dead time of the rainy afternoon reading and that kind of thing - and out of the blue our water supply was gone, spigot wide open and nothing, so out into the rapidly darkening late afternoon, over to the spring house, open the door and our pump was covered in water (it is not an underwater type pump) - well flooding water and seemingly lack of electric power (to the pump) boded an emergency style evening - not bad, lights were on, stove made tea, etc but no showers, no flush toilet, etc and I had exhausted my meager talents for the time being - then this morning I called an old friendly plumber who had helped us a few years ago when I was away, good job, reasonable cost, knowledgeable - but he had retired.  I decided to choose at random (somewhat) from the 'Yellow Pages' and saw the low-key ad for this company from the same general area.  GREAT CHOICE - I called and the men were out working but they gave a cell contact and the gentleman above answered and told me best chance was early afternoon - and he was on the target.

I love dealing with honest, reputable people and Steve fit the bill.  We had water within fifteen minutes and this old Scot thought the charge was fair and square.   

I would call them again in a heart beat.  THANK YOU McDOWELL PLUMBING AND HEATING!!!1

CAPOFITTO - best coffee in Philadelphia

well to be sure, taste is a democratic type of thing, open to debate whether it is coffee or single malt whisky - but after having risen early (5 pm or so) and driven maybe 60 odd miles to Philadelphia to get an expedited passport renewal and determined not to lose my 10 O'clock appointment I found myself a tidy hour and a half early - but not to worry as I can always fritter away time, and in this case it was finding the cheapest parking space while I did the wait in line opportunity and actually was finished at about 10:03 - and I took a beeline across the street to this unknown cafe where a pleasant young lady just opening about half hour early put the brew on just for me - fresh, hot, half and half yielded a nice generous cup of really good coffee - so if you're even in the neighborhood of the U.S. Customs House on Chestnut Street stop in and tell them that Norvell sent you!!
