sometime back a Facebook friend asked people to share, without comment, what we were reading and this is another belated (though possibly I have posted it on this blog before) response by me as I am rereading it with as much or more pleasure than the first time. Not to belabor the somewhat obvious but white people like me need to have access to the background of everyday life as lived by people of colour - while we will never be able to truly understand how it is to live in one of the major countries of the world and see life through a dark prism every moment of our existence Mosely builds his stories with such detail subtly - and sometimes not too subtly - woven into the background that we feel ourselves living black, in a similar manner to watching a foreign film with sub-titles in English such that momentarily we are multi-lingual it seems.
Another post will share more information about the author, his background and his multiple awards.
