For years I had thought that the novel was called 'Far From The Maddening Crowd'. And found that many people like myself referred to it in that manner. At any rate the mistake took hold in my mind and I was always trying to escape to sparsely populated rural areas that were far from the maddening crowd. Thank my governing spirit that my erroneous thinking was corrected long after I had found Maine and then Cape Breton
