Single Malts - and other odd Musings

Volunteer

This Brown-Eyed Susan - Rudbeckia hirta, commonly called black-eyed Susan, brown-eyed Susanbrown Betty, etc - is a volunteer growth in the midst of the volunteer growth of a thorny shrub which I believe is barberry.  The flower is the state flower of Maryland as The Black-eyed Susan.  It is native to North America and grows wild along by-ways and in fields.  I got the plant to grow in our yard by scattering flower heads.
