The Gordian Worm
This morning I espied this Gordian Worm wiggling on the brick walkway (the background in the photo is the little walkway to our wood-rick made from discarded fire brick that are about 9"x18" - @23x46 cm) and took the above exposure. Using the mighty power of Google I quickly found that this is The Gordian Worm , sometimes known as the horsehair worm because generations earlier than mine had often seen horse hairs fall into puddles and then saw this same type worm writhing about in that puddle causing them to think that the horse hair had miraculously transformed itself into this bizarre creature. I can remember these many years ago that my father had told me this myth when I was a young lad not yet in school and I had even at that age challenged his story, but he swore that he had watched it happen.
