although our walnut tree bears fruit - large, double encased walnut shells - I have still no idea for sure if this is the thin shelled English Walnut or the native Black Walnut, a much thicker, stronger, black shell that encloses that incredible taste of the cake that has been my birthday cake for over eighty years now
