For many years the holding tank at the top of the 'fish-ladder' - to enable androgynous fish to surmount the falls and swim on to Loch Lomond - there had been a secure steel mesh covering to prevent molesting the fish, salmon in particular, as they idled after their long journey up the 'ladder' before taking their final exit BUT vandals spend considerable time and effort to destroy the cover and remove great numbers of breeding salmon which has ruined the annual spring run for many years and years to come
