Single Malts - and other odd Musings

Laphroaig Select

Just purchased ths Laphroaig Select at a nice affordable price and quite enjoy it.  I then went to several sites that both discuss the whisky under consideration and also post reviews.  As always the various reviews showed a spread of taste but in particular they were extremely varied  - from no stars to five stars and many in between.  I hope to write my usual subdued take on this pleasant Scotch Single Malt (blend, actually) but for now will just say - first it was a pleasant price, second it was a pleasing drink, third it was not the firey peat that I so love with Laphroaig, BUT it is definitely a repeat buy for me and it is a nice way to initiate some friend into the great game of drinking single malt without scaring him off.  I would off-hand rate it at about a 78 against single malts in general. Tune in later - when I am at about half a bottle - and I will try to give you some of my low key comments that make me like and enjoy this.
