A Chief Inspector Gamache Novel(s) by Louise Penny
I have always loved to read - but right up front I must confess that as liberal as I am with equality for all, that I have found male authors more appealing to my reading tastes in general than female - but those tines I do find an author, female, appealing, then they rank high, very high on an unmade listing of favorite authors AND here I most post this consistently great writer - Louise Penny - of murder mysteries that holds me enthralled both for the writing of each individual book and for that background story that slips in and out of sight from book to book but keeps the mind in heightened tension to see how that ominous shadow story will play out with the Chief Inspector of Homicide with the Surete du Quebec, Armand Gamache as he discovers, seeks solutions in, and eventually retires to the quiet hidden village of Three Pines near the Vermont border. Please read them, the series of books, in order from Still Life, out in about 2005 and continuing yearly through the present day, so that you can follow the fortunes not only of the Inspector, but his family, his friends, citizens of the town of Three Pines, that just as in real life become part of our lives, our background of interaction, sometimes friendly sometimes boring sometimes threatening.
If it means anything to you, Louise and 'The Three Pines' series are constant players of The New York Times Best Seller List - and of Himself's!!!!
