the line of demarcation of the high tide level has moved steadily upstream the last few years and is now about center of the photo (I picked that area because leaves drifting down stream begin to eddy there) - some years back, five or six or so, the normal high tide would be down stream almost to the top of the photo. note the mother and son wading just past the old dam pier upper right.
